PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
4/1/2024

Without RIMA there would not be a unified voice for motorcycle riders at the State House. Thank you to all of our members past and present for your support. Together we make a difference for safety education and legislation in R.I. We look forward to another 50 years of success.
In January the Legislative session started on 1/02/2024 at the State House, RIMA was there to greet our legislators. We have be looking at all Bills for good or bad that will effect Bikers here in Rhode Island until the session ends June 30 2024. Thanks to our Governor for keeping the sales tax trade in credit in the budget for2024. When you trade in a motorcycle for a new or used one the trade in price is credited off of the sales price for a substantial savings.
There have been several bills introduced this session. Motorcycle trade in tax for 2024, Also one that includes trucks along with motorcycles for the sales Tax credit. Lane splitting Bill was introduced also, All were sent to committees for consideration at a later date. RIMA will follow closely.
With our thanks to our Secretary Cam Bigelow for a great job on his weekly legislative research and reports that he has been doing to post on our sites. Now that Spring is here and hopefully the rain will let up so that we can all enjoy our riding
season too the fullest let the fun begin.
Our next Rima meeting is Tuesday 4/16/2024 at 7pm.
